How do I join the server?
Add
mc.hardknocks.university to your server list. Java Edition connects directly; Bedrock Edition uses port 19132. Check the full How to Join guide for step-by-step instructions.
What version is the server running?
The server runs Minecraft 1.21.11 (Mounts of Mayhem) with Java and Bedrock crossplay enabled.
Can I use Optifine or Sodium?
Yes. Performance mods like Optifine, Sodium, Lithium, and cosmetic shader packs are all allowed. Minimaps are fine as long as they don't show caves or entities. X-ray texture packs and hacked clients are not allowed.
How do land claims work?
You can claim areas of land to protect your builds from griefing. Claimed land prevents other players from building, breaking, or interacting within your territory unless you grant them access.
What happens when I die?
A grave spawns at your death location keeping your items safe. You won't get a compass, directional arrow, or coordinates — you'll need to remember where you were and find your way back. Your items are protected; the journey back is part of the game.
Will the world ever reset?
No. The world is permanent. Your builds are here to stay. Major Minecraft updates that add new terrain generation will be handled by expanding the world border, not resetting.

How do I apply for staff?
Staff applications will open when the community grows. For now, be active, be helpful, and be a good member of the community — that's the best application.
Are there custom items or economy plugins?
No. The server is as close to vanilla as possible. No custom items, no server currency, no teleportation commands. Plugins are only used for protection, security, and quality of life.
